United Airlines profits are coming in for a landing

19.07.2023

After rival Delta Air Lines posted impressive results last week, there are high expectations for United Airlines UAL +2.74% earnings, and it looks like the carrier is ready to take on the challenge. It should capitalize on strong summer demand and beat its own forecasts, which will be released on Wednesday.

The sector has been bolstered by Delta’s (ticker: DAL) record revenue and profitability in the second quarter and a strong summer season that includes a record Fourth of July weekend. Sharp declines in fuel costs have also boosted airline stocks in recent weeks.

Analysts expect earnings per share of United (ticker: UAL) to come in at $4.04, beating the company’s guidance of $3.50 to $4. Revenue will also come in at $13.9 billion.

Attention will also be on United’s full-year outlook, especially after Delta raised its 2023 earnings forecast last week.
