The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration under the US Department of Transportation demanded that Tesla recall 158,000 electric vehicles due to dangerous defects.

According to the agency, we are talking about Model Sand Model X. The problems concern the main control unit MCU (Media Control Unit) and the display. This may cause the loosing of the rear view camera image while reversing. As the agency notes, the country’s authorities rarely apply such a measure as the recall of tens of thousands of cars.

Last November Tesla had to recall more than ten thousand Model X and Model Y cars due to problems with fixing roof fragments. Its pieces flying off during movement could endanger other road users.
