European gas prices hit record

30.08.2021

Gas prices in Europe have renewed another record. The price of the October futures broke the mark of $598 per thousand cubic meters, according to trade data.

At a later date, the price has been corrected to just over $590 per thousand cubic meters. The growth began after the announcement of the results of the auction for the reservation of additional capacities for the transit of gas through Ukraine in September. “Gazprom” bought only 0.65 million cubic meters per day (4.3 percent of the volume).

Earlier it was reported that “Gazprom” has finished selling gas to European buyers for 2022 through its own Electronic Trading Platform (ETP). Bidding was stopped after the announcement of the decision of the German Court of Appeal on compliance with the EU Gas Directive within the Third Energy Package of the European Union.
