Russian currency disappointed the USA

15.06.2021

American investors and speculators were disappointed in the ruble, having reduced the volume of purchases of futures contracts for it, according to the information of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), published on the agency’s website.

During the week from 2 to 8 June, the number of speculative long trades (to buy) with settlement futures on the ruble on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) was 11,480, short one (to sell) – 9740.

Therefore, the difference between these values, or, as it is customary to call this indicator in the exchange slang, the net long for ruble futures, in the reporting week was equal to 1740 contracts – against 4587 a week earlier. The decrease was 62 percent.
