The Russian Ministry of Finance announced the start of the purchase of foreign currency from January 15th. It is planned to spend 106.3 billion rubles until the February 4, which means 7.1 billion per day. The message is on the website of the department.

Such actions increase the demand for foreign currency and therefore weaken the ruble. Last time the Ministry of Finance was engaged in buying ten months ago, after which he sold it to maintain the exchange rate.

In the meantime, total sales amounted to RUB 947 billion, including using the currency from the NWF.
