The British currency will continue to consolidate in the area of 1.4100 – 1.4200 today, inasmuch as British banks are not working today. The main trend in this currency pair is upward, insofar as the dollar-denominated Libor interest rates in the interbank market are at a historical minimum, and in such periods we should expect a weakening of the American currency.

However, before the growth of quotations, we may see a decline to the 1.4100/1.4070 area, inasmuch as tomorrow the US Treasury will withdraw liquidity from the financial system through an auction for the placement of Treasury bonds.

Trading recommendation: flat 1.4140 – 1.4230.
