German economy is flourishing

The German economy has been successful in tackling pandemic unemployment, recovering employment earlier than experts expected. In August, 53 thousand people were employed in Germany. Employment rates are rising for the fourth straight month, inasmuch as businesses replenish their workforce against the background of recovery from a lockdown.

Unemployment dropped to 5.5 percent. This is the lowest indicator since March last year, when Germany announced the introduction of coronavirus restrictions. The incidence is now growing in the country again, but authorities have pledged not to introduce a second lockdown ahead of the national elections on September 26, prompting the company to expand its staff. The European Commission’s forecast for employment in Germany in August rose to its highest level since the end of 2018. The index of the national Federal Service for Employment and Labor, which reflects the demand for labor, also improved.
