The Chinese economy needs to increase the supply of natural gas and wants to satisfy the growing demand.

Every two years the PRC increases consumption by a volume comparable to the entire export capacity of “Power of Siberia”, which is 38 billion cubic meters of gas per year, Zubkov noted. He added that China is the largest importer of gas and the third largest consumer of this source of energy in the world (after the United States and Russia).

Zubkov considers the PRC market promising and predicts that gas consumption in the country may double in the next 15 years compared to the current level. Even during a pandemic this figure increased (by 20 billion cubic meters).
