What currencies can collapse

18.08.2021

Analyst Rusetsky named currencies that could collapse in the event of the next crisis.

According to the financier, a crisis may erupt when the US raises rates, and foreign exchange debt risks to become more expensive. However, this time he will not touch Russia due to the fact that the country’s reserves exceed the amount of debt.

Rusetsky recalled that in 2018, when rates in the United States were last raised, Argentina and Lebanon suffered from a default, a currency crisis began in Turkey. This time the post-Soviet countries, which have a high share of external borrowing in foreign currency, are at risk: Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan. Also, the crisis may affect large developing countries such as Turkey, Paraguay and Vietnam.
