Tonight, the US Treasury will place bonds in the amount of $99.4 billion, and the Federal Reserve will buy Treasury bonds in the amount of $1.75 billion. Inasmuch as the Treasury will withdraw substantially more money from the financial system, today we can expect the strengthening of the dollar during the day.

Meanwhile, I do not expect a strong growth in the dollar quotes, inasmuch as these actions of the Ministry of Finance have temporary nature and interest rates on the interbank market are still close to their historic minimum, which is negative for the dollar. I note that this week the Ministry of Finance will redeem bonds and return $43 billion to the financial system.
