China intends to create a new stock exchange in Beijing for small and medium-sized companies. The decision was announced by the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, noting that it was made against the background of a policy of supporting the sector.

“We will continue to support innovation-driven development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by establishing the Beijing Stock Exchange as the primary venue for innovation-driven SMEs,” he said in a video message at the opening of the International Trade Fair for Services.
