The most popular cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin and Ethereum, have a “green” competitor. Cardano cryptocurrency (ADA) has ranked third in value, inasmuch as miners are searching for greener alternatives.

Cardano has a market cap of $86.47 billion, and the value of the token has jumped more than 36 percent over the past week to $2.64. The cryptocurrency has displaced the exchange token with a capitalization of $81.48 billion from the third place.

Cardano is a blockchain platform that has its own internal cryptocurrency called ADA. It was founded in 2015 by Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson and launched in 2017. Since then, the token has returned 7.08 thousand percent to investors. ADA is named after Ada Lovelace, a 19th century British countess, who was famous for her work on a computing machine. She is considered as the first world’s programmer.
