GBPUSD – Waiting for US government bond yields to rise

01.11.2023

Important events today:

18:00 UTC – US: FOMC decision on the key interest rate.

In the US debt market, yields on long-term government bonds have started to rise again, which is favourable for the strengthening of the dollar. The yield on 10-year Treasury securities is 4.92% and if we draw historical parallels, the figure should exceed the yield on 2-year bonds, which now stands at 5.08%.

Thus, ten-year bonds should grow in yield somewhere in the area of 5.3-5.5%. Against this background, we may see a good growth of the US currency quotations in the coming days.

Recommendations: Sell 1.2167/1.2190 and TP 1.2070.
