Vaccination of the population in the European Union is gaining momentum

16.06.2021

EU countries have used over 300 million doses of COVID-19 coronavirus vaccines, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Tuesday. “In the EU we have passed the 300 million injections mark,” she tweeted. “Every day we are getting closer to our goal of providing enough vaccine doses to vaccinate 70% of the EU adult population in July,” said von der Leyen. If at the beginning of spring the European Union lagged substantially behind the United States in terms of vaccination rates, now the Europeans are quickly making up for lost time, which is favorable for the euro exchange rate.

On the interbank market in London, dollar interest rates have renewed their historical minimum again, which is negative for the American currency. The benchmark three-month Libor rate has been below the US Federal Reserve’s median rate for 4 days in row, indicating a substantial surplus of dollars in the financial system.
