Deutsche Bank raises S&P 500 forecast

13.09.2024

Deutsche Bank has raised its year-end target for the S&P 500 index to 5,750 points, up from 5,500, driven by increased stock buybacks, strong corporate earnings, and significant inflows supported by strong risk appetite.

The new forecast was published on September 12, and according to the bank’s analysts, earnings growth for S&P 500 companies is expected to remain in the low double digits, which is typical outside of recessionary periods. This increase represents a 2.75% rise compared to the index’s close at 5,595.76 points.

Earlier in May, Deutsche Bank had already raised its target to 5,500 points, citing strong corporate earnings. Now, with concerns over the labor market and the tech sector easing, analysts believe the August pullback is over, and stock growth is set to continue.
