ECB has increased the purchase of assets

07.10.2021

The head of the ECB Christine Lagarde in early September promised that the monetary regulator of the eurozone will reduce the volume of asset purchases, but in practice we do not see this. A fresh report by the ECB on the change in assets on the balance sheet recorded an increase in the indicator by €28.6 billion, against an increase of €21.8 billion a week earlier.

From these €28.6 billion, about 27 billion fell on the purchase of bonds of the eurozone countries, although the ECB was supposed to buy such a volume in a maximum of 4 weeks. The growth of money supply in Europe will have a negative influence on the value of the euro and this factor will not allow the European currency to demonstrate strong growth against the dollar.
