Cryptocurrency exchange Bit2Me acquires software development company Dekalabs

Spanish cryptocurrency exchange Bit2Me said it has acquired blockchain and cryptocurrency software developer Dekalabs for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition will strengthen Bit2Me’s position in helping companies and institutions build tools based on cryptocurrencies and blockchain protocols such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, the company said in a statement Monday.

Bit2Me did not say how much it paid for the company and had not responded to CoinDesk’s request for details by the time of publication.

Bit2Me, the first company to be licensed by the Bank of Spain as a crypto-services provider, said in July that it had reached agreements on three acquisitions, including a 90 percent stake in a Latin American exchange and the purchase of a fintech company and software developer, details of which were not disclosed.

At the time, CEO Leif Ferreira said the company plans to add 250 employees despite the onset of difficult conditions in the crypto industry. “With multiple layoffs, now is the time to retain and build,” he said. “Cryptocurrencies will not stop, no matter how much prices have fallen.”
