Bitcoin Drops to $62K, $310M in Long Positions Liquidated

02.08.2024

“Bitcoin fell to $62,800,” reported Coinglass, a platform analyzing cryptocurrency markets. The sudden drop from $64,000 led to the liquidation of long positions worth $310.27 million over 24 hours, with a total of $337 million wiped out.

“This is not an emergency situation,” said market analyst DW. “Low liquidity amplifies the effect of sales.” He pointed out issues like the unresolved Mt. Gox situation and the seasonal low liquidity post-Bitcoin 2024 conference, which intensify the impact of sales.

Independent analyst Mags pointed to potential recovery. “The hash ribbons have issued a buy signal,” he noted. Mags added that as long as Bitcoin stays above $60,000, the dips could present buying opportunities.
