It will be a joint collaboration of Chinese companies Baidu and Geely, Jidu Auto. Already in 2022, it is planned to demonstrate a working prototype.

As Robin Li (CEO of Baidu) said during a recent online forum, the plan is to manufacture not just electric vehicles, but robots capable of self-learning and error-free orientation in traffic. He also noted that this project is able to solve the problem of traffic jams in China within 10 years.

On the back of the news, Baidu’s shares climbed nearly 1.5%.
