Arctic oil production may fail

Environmental activists are going to seek an end to drilling for oil and gas production in the Norwegian part of the Arctic, applying to the ECHR.

Two large organizations and six individuals plan to file a lawsuit: they believe that drilling in the context of the climate crisis violates basic human rights. In Norway the activists have lost the court: they tried to prevent oil production in the Arctic in this way in December.

The decision to continue the confrontation at the European level was made against the background of the successes of environmental organizations in the Netherlands, which managed to obtain concessions from Royal Dutch Shell, as well as the IEA report, which indicated the importance of stopping work at new fields.
