US sanctions affected Russia’s national debt

The new sanctions that the United States has imposed on Russia in connection with the situation around Navalny may endanger the Russian national debt. According to The Bell, the restrictive measures could be expanded in as little as three months.

In particular, sanctions against Russia were introduced under the CBW Act from 1991, which describes restrictive measures for the use of chemical weapons. Firstly, the sanctions of the first stage are introduced: from the ban on the supply of weapons to the termination of any assistance from the United States, except humanitarian.

After that, the country is given 90 days to admit violations and stop using chemical weapons. If the conditions are not met, a second and tougher package of sanctions is introduced, it provides six measures. The US President will have to introduce at least three of them.
