Alphabet ad revenue exceeds share caps

The tech giant said second-quarter adjusted earnings per share hit $1.21, compared to $1.32 analysts had expected, according to Bloomberg data. Meanwhile, revenue excluding TAC, or traffic acquisition costs, was $57.47 billion, compared to $58.14 billion expected by Wall Street.

Advertising revenue for the period was $56.29 billion, beating analysts’ forecasts of $56.14 billion. However, Google services revenue was small at an estimated $62.84 billion versus $63.34 billion expected. The company’s shares jumped 4% in after-hours trading. By Tuesday’s close, the stock was down about 27% year-to-date.
