European gas economics

12.10.2021

The industrial sector in Europe began to reduce the demand for natural gas. Record prices have made fuel too expensive for many consumers.

Average gas consumption in October fell by 12 percent from pre-pandemic levels, according to Paris-based consulting firm Engie EnergyScan. In September, fuel demand was five percent lower than in the same period in 2019. Enterprises began to save on gas and look for alternative sources of energy supply.
