Currency is in short supply in Russia

In the summer a shortage of currency may begin in Russia, warned the head of the Center for Investment Analysis of the CSR, Daniil Nametkin.

The expert suggests that this may happen against the background of an increase in purchases of foreign currency for the NWF within the budget rule. But this deficit will be short-term, Nametkin is sure. According to this rule, if Urals oil is more expensive than indicated in the federal budget, the Ministry of Finance directs the surplus proceeds to buy foreign currency. If oil turns out to be cheaper, it sells.

In early July, Losev, the general director of “Sputnik – Capital Management”, called the ruble exchange rate “fair” without taking into account the foreign exchange transactions of the Ministry of Finance. According to the analyst, without buying currency for the NWF, the rate of the Russian currency would be in the range of 65-70 rubles per dollar.
