The trade war between America and Europe can end

The EU and the US are going to declare a truce in the trade conflict that has unfolded over subsidies to the aircraft industry. The parties have been at war since 2004: it was about supporting the American aircraft manufacturer Boeing and its European competitor Airbus.

In March, Washington and Brussels managed to negotiate the lifting of duties on various American and European goods worth more than $11.5 billion, which were introduced during the conflict over the WTO resolution. This is a five-year period, the decision is going to be announced on June 15. The details of the agreement are still being discussed.

“I am quite confident that we will come to an agreement on the problem around Airbus and Boeing in today’s discussions with our American friends,” said Ursula von der Leyen, head of the European Commission, at a press conference.
