The market is waiting for weak data on UK GDP

13.02.2021

Today, UK National Statistics Office will publish GDP release for the 4th quarter. The market does not expect positive data, insofar as the coronavirus pandemic forced the authorities to impose strict lockdowns, which caused a decrease in consumer activity. The Bank of England noted in its latest review that it expects GDP growth from the second quarter of 2021. This release will not be able to have a strong influence on the market, inasmuch as investors have already come to terms with the fact that the report will be released weak.

Against this background, the decline in quotations to the 1.3780/1.3760 area is advisable to use to open long positions, counting on the continuation of the upward trend in this currency pair, since the surplus of dollar liquidity in the financial system will contribute to the weakening of the American currency.

Investment idea: Buy 1.3780/1.3760 and take profit 1.3850.
